Therapy can

change your life…

if you let it

Suzanne’s approach

Being human is hard. It’s messy and emotional and there’s no instruction manual. If you are reading this, then there’s a good chance that it’s gotten really hard for you or for someone that you care about.

You could be worried about your teenager figuring out who they are in high school.

Maybe you are stuck in that in-between of adolescence and adulthood and trying to take those next steps feels overwhelming.

Or you carry the weight of an old relationship and can’t seem to move forward.

Perhaps you are trapped by panic and fear… of something new, of talking to people, of making a phone call, of germs or of losing your breath to panic.

Or maybe the memories of past trauma haunt you in the present.

Whatever brings you here, you took that first difficult step. Now I’m ready to take the next one with you. My name is Suzanne (she/her) and I believe in fostering an environment of trust, empathy, and mutual respect. Through cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapy, I empower individuals and families to rewrite their narratives, fostering resilience, and unlocking their innate potential for growth. With the aid of EMDR, I guide my clients toward processing trauma, facilitating profound healing, and ultimately paving the way for renewed hope and a deeper understanding of self.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of what makes therapy work. It is the cornerstone of healing and growth. When done right, therapy becomes that safe space where you can bring all of the uncomfortable, awfulness that you are struggling with and work through it without judgment. It is a safe harbor where you can openly express your thoughts, fears, and aspirations.

Together, we embark on a journey toward discovering newfound strengths, rekindling joy, and cultivating a life defined by emotional balance and inner peace.

Tidewater Counseling and Consulting is an anti-racist and LGBTQIA-affirming practice. We recognize the significance of creating an inclusive and affirming therapeutic space that respects and validates the unique experiences and perspectives of the diverse people around our world and our community. We appreciate that this work is ongoing and that we may make many mistakes. We pledge to continue to learn and grow.
